Project Employ’s vision is to create a community where young people with intellectual or learning disabilities are engaged in meaningful, paid employment like any other member of society.

As part of this vision, Project Employ has created Flourish Cafe

Located in Takapuna, 19 Como Street, the Flourish Café is open to the public Monday – Friday. Serving delicious coffee, and mouth-watering savouries and cakes, every time you come to Flourish, you’re supporting a trainee in their journey to employment.

Flourish Café provides a genuine stepping-stone to employment and independence for their trainees, creating life-changing opportunities. Trainees are involved in all aspects of running the café – a unique, authentic work environment in which every situation is recognised as a valuable learning opportunity.

The Project Employ team looks forward to welcoming you into their training café.

Partnership with Special Gifts

The Special Gifts team met Sarah from Project Employ through their connection to the Te Tuhi Cafe. Katrina had been helping Sarah with the training that underpinned the support for the trainees at Flourish. When Katrina and Suzanne started Special Gifts, Sarah was keen to support them. Special Gifts is excited to be able to offer one free coffee at Flourish in many of its Auckland-based boxes, so we can encourage more people to head out to Takapuna for great coffee and service.
